#Tesla #SelfDrivingCars #Crash
Tesla Driver IsFirst Person To Be Charged In A Fatal Crash Involving Autopilot
If you are in the drivers seat, YOU are responsible for the commute and the car.
Good! Charge mofo driver!
You need to charge the owner of Tesla as well
They can’t make a car drive correctly so what are they trying to do to trucks again
I’m a pilot and when I put my plane on auto pilot and it kills someone I’m pretty sure it’ll be my fault. Same goes for drivers, you’re responsible for what you are operating.
You don’t sound like a pilot because if you are on auto pilot and you caused someone’s death chances are you won’t be around yourself to be at fault but nice try pretending to be someone you are not.
😵
Mommy and daddy will pay for a good lawyer
Its dangerous to call this autopilot. Should call it driver assist, of advanced lane keep assist. Studies show often autopilot is more dangerous than normal driving due to the ease of distraction. Really it should be a capable of completely, self driving car or no autopilot. This in between is actually dangerous.
The case is simple. The driver should be held responsible for the crimes he committed. As a licensed driver, he is responsible for the car he is driving. Can’t blame the company for him being stupid.
And this is why computer engineers can do half aazz work and say we are not responsible.
Cali: killed someone? No biggie, pay bail and go get some McDonald’s
Fake news Bull snot!! I don’t believe anything you say. Y’all just going after Elon because he makes you idiots look like idiots.
Saw a guy reading a God dam book using auto polite so ya I think they should be held accountable for there actions. Another looks like they where sleeping
Auto pilot should not be in any cars since people rely on it.
How tf do you not see a car I’m front of you every Tesla owner I know including myself owning a model S would not be that dumb to sleep while a car is driving even if autopilot is on
It shouldn’t matter if it’s on autopilot or not you crashed into a car and killed people it’s your fault.
Is he black?
Pilots do not set autopilot and then not pay attention to the flying. Drivers shouldn’t either. Don’t blame the company, blame the human in control. The autopilot didn’t turn itself on.
Both are blame since both failed.
Well there flies my hopes and dreams to buying one and paying an extra 10 gran for auto pilot 🤣
“Please keep your hands on the wheel”
LA DA seems to just want a easy case. Charge the consumer instead of the manufacturer
It’s not FULL LEVEL 5 Auto Pilot! It’s advanced CRUISE CONTROL. If you have cruise control on and slam into another car, it’s your fault! So what’s the debate and surprise about?
Difference is with cruise control you still have to control the steering wheel and pay attention with auto pilot it fooIs people thinking it can drive the car making the driver more relaxed and less aware.
Remember the outcome of this case when and if he’s found guilty, they want driverless big trucks on the road who’s going to be responsible then?
Well I can tell you Tesla will not be responsible look at all the ldlots in the comments thinking Tesla is the good guy.
Tesla sucks not guilty you can’t blame the driver when the cars auto pilot failed
it’s basically a white collar crime as only rich ( mostly white ) folks can afford.
Liberals: we must hold gun manufacturers responsible for gun crime
Liberals: it’s not Elons fault someone misused his car.
Gun deaths per year: 39,000 (%70 suicide)
Car deaths per year: 39,000 (all accidents)
🤫🤔
I am happy with my crown Vic 😊 390000miles already … Runs great . Wish Ford start making them again
Too many people rely on autopilot of life!!!! Smh.
Never liked this car. Especially because of this happening. Its just overrated as a car
Exactly it’s not the first time.
Any persons that willingly puts their lifeline on artificial intelligence is not the brightest
Anyone notice the Tesla at 1:15 lol
Its called auto pilot, like a plane the user has to stay at attention to make sure nothing goes wrong. When they label it “self driving car” thats when you can get all butt hurt that it doesn’t work.
They should take the auto pilot off and have drivers drive cars. There is no need for this.
They should sue the maker of the car for promising customers that the autopilot is safe
There’s more people driving manual and get into accidents.
I don’t like the notion you are trying to push that it should be blamed on Tesla. That seems to be the focus of this
They are selling a car and giving the illusion the car can drive itself.
@McDonough, Georgia because it can…but there is also NEWER safety measures that require an attentive driver right? I don’t own one myself
@Cole It can to a point and people get comfortable until it makes one error which it did.
Who will get the blame when a self driving semi truck kills someone?
Remember youre reasonable for your vehicle
Where’s a single photo of the alleged crash? Why don’t they mention the name of the driver being charged? They don’t, because this is nothing but totally fabricated NONSENSE that did not happen in real life.
Unfortunately, most people falsely believe that everything presented by the news media must be true to the best of their knowledge, which couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Jesus it hit a Honda Civic? If anyone has driven a Tesla they are incredibly heavy for their size, it probably ripped through that car.
Reading the comments and being a Tesla owner who paid for the FSD that is still not a reality. It is like blaming the automakers when people use the cruise control system in any other vehicle and don’t pay attention to the roads. That’s insane. I am not here to protect any automaker. Even jetliner pilots need to use autopilot with caution.
Cruise control you still have to have your hands on the wheel and pay attention where auto pilot it give you the illusion it’s in full control.
Tesla shouldn’t be marketing their cars as “full autopilot” if you have to still pay attention and keeps your hands on the wheel.
The issue with putting the liability on the manufacturer is it will force the average person to fight the lawyers of multibillion dollar companies in court, meaning you will NEVER win your case.
Charged . Not convicted . 90 percent of the comments are absurd , like usual .
Must be your first day in the US. He has not proven his innocence yet.
What’s the point in autopilot that is no such thing obviously!? Tbh if Tesla hasn’t warned customers sufficiently then they too need to take at least part of the blame. Makes me sick the way these companies always manage to wriggle out of things.
Well thanks because there all these ldlots who thinks only the little guy should be blamed.
Even autopilot for planes require the pilot to be monitering the controls. Why do people think it is any different than for a car? This is not a fully self driving car and the company never stated that it is.
So then they shouldn’t call it auto pilot
@McDonough, Georgia do you know what autopilot means? It doesn’t mean it fully autonomous.
@A L It doesn’t matter it still gives the illusion the car can drive itself, they should call it cruise control with lane assistance.
27 year old should not be driving a Tesla to begin with, throw the book at him!
so then he should be able to sue telsa for their faulty technology
Matthew 5:4
King James Version
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Won’t see there self driving tesla simi trucks no time so if i may say…bec if your self driving feature wont work right on a car, wtf makes u think it will work on a 18 wheeler….n if so i tell u wat tesla owner gonna be out a whole lot of money
A destory tesla is a good tesla, but yea guy got whats coming for him, relying on that lazy death trap, call auto pilot
STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!! Stop blaming Tesla for this!!!!! Tesla has done nothing wrong, autopilot is a basic feature UNDER BETA! Tesla has you sign a waver when you get the car that shows that you understands how to handle autopilot. Love how when theres a crash in a Toyota y’all don’t say “Toyota Driver is First Person To Be Charged In A Fatal Crash…” Stop trying to make Tesla look bad. Im SICK of all of these news anchors that try to pin Tesla for something that doesn’t even involve them. smh shut up NBC
Human driver is responsible always no matter what 100% of the time
Whew 😥
Justice served. As the owner of the vehicle, the person in charge of and responsible for it’s function, the responsibility is upon the person who sets the car on auto pilot. A lesson with regard control of the car and responsibility.
Self driving cars is the dumbest idea in a long time 🤦♂️
This autopilot needs to be halted. We aren’t ready for it. It’s simple.
People get teslas just to flex and that makes me laugh because that’s like trying to flex a Kia.
Ya cant. 😂
And here I am willing to pay 10 grands for that stupid buggy technology. /smh
Of course it’s the drivers responsibility. It’s his vehicle he is behind the wheel he is in full control.
He could have stopped it at any time if he was paying attention.
Happy Tesla wasn’t on the hook for this. Complete user failure, same as any crash
This is why I’ll never trust cars to drive on their own, at least not in my lifetime.
They should change the name from autopilot to copilot
Auto pilot is just a fancy word for cruise control
I never took the self driving option seriously I never did idc what the dude that owns Tesla created it never sounded right if I can’t be driven by someone else or by myself I’m not using it
Why have autopilot in the first place …..
Be like charging a company for someone turning on the cruise control and just going to sleep! Of course their gonna wreck ain’t the company’s fault they tell you it’s a crutch not a 100% fail safe.
They just want to mess the 28 year old life. Most car crashes are from the middle aged groups
NBC news sucks an this is exactly the perfect example as to why. Disgusting how these two clowns spin the information in this story.
Huh? It’s almost like Tesla gets away with calling their product “autopilot” when it’s really assisted driver tech. Could Tesla be sued for something like gross false advertising?
well he obviously wasn’t paying attention and im pretty sure they say if you use that feature you’re supposed to still be paying attention.. jeez!! Technology makes people so dumb! RIP mr and mrs. gaudalupe lopez
The whole autopilot thing to me was a stupid idea in the first place
Isn’t this the guy who has been caught sleeping and driving several times before?
I will be quite honest in saying that I will never drive a car with autopilot on. I’m very aware that statistically I’m more likely to make a mistake than an autopilot is but the difference in that as long as I’m the one driving I am in control, any mistake I make is my own, and I can plan an predict how my car is maneuvered
Reporters getting facts wrong again ‘the car was driving itself technically at that time…’ Tesla’s system is SAE Level 2 meaning the person in the driver seat is ‘technically’ still driving.
The problem is the car drive itself until it can’t drive itself and it expects the driver to take over.
@McDonough, Georgia that’s not a problem, that’s called SAE level 2 automation. It’s the standard. Sorry you fall for the marketing. I love my sae lvl2 system. Drove me 90 miles yesterday with zero interventions.
@Robert Leclercq Then what is the problem?
As rare as it is for me to say it, this time it seems justified to be charged for manslaughter. You’re responsible for the car, not the technology
Ever since I saw I, Robot, I will never let a car drive me around
Even if my car can drive itself. I will always be in control.
So what???
Should we stop driving???
Its not autopilot, its lane assist with cruise control
This was in 2019, before full self driving was allowed. How was he driving self driving when he wasn’t on an interstate
why is it called autopilot while the driver still performs some functions. it should be called semi drive instead or temporarily drive just saying.
Here’s a thought no one is asking. What is this guy is just trying to blame auto pilot even if he wasn’t using it?
A lot of people here are posting to support autopilot and FSD with an agenda to help Tesla’s stock price.
I know right everybody thinks Tesla shouldn’t be liable.
time for elon to pay, he should pull this its a gimic
Advanced Safety feature to stop the car automatically if sth jumps in front I guess is needed everywhere
What is the point of paying for such tech? Probably makes the driver more dangerous. They say the more tech in a car the less attentive the driver.
Tesla drivers! 🤦🏻♂️
Sounds like the Terminator.
Won’t be the Last time..
Elon should also be charged
I actually had a tesla drive into oncoming traffic at me. Somehow it got into my turning lane and was driving all janky. Didn’t eve slow down just flew past as I and another driver veered away from it. Luckily it was at night and there were not that many cars on the road
Drivers do that all the time, whether it’s a Tesla or not is irrelevant
@iKingRPG mofo said “happens all the time” lolol well it shouldn’t and Myers need to drive better or get rekd
Tesla is a scam company. Don’t call it “Auto” pilot when it’s just cruise control for your car.
There’s nothing wrong with the name Autopilot
Basically if one accidentally nods off.., the automated system the car comes with will help in that case.
But idiots & Imbeciles are literally thinking (or not actually) “oh I have a car with auto pilot!!” WooooWhooo!🥳
I can full on go to sleep much later & just take an hour nap in my automated car! 🙄 “Here’s Your Sign!”
Should be both. We should always be in control of cars. Both.
If you don’t know how to drive, use uber.
What do you mean it’s been assumed the company would be responsible?? That has never been assumed lol. You as a driver are always 100% responsible for your car regardless if you have the so called “self driving” functionality
Just another opportunity for people not to take responsibility for themselves.
Lock this moron up, then go after Tesla. The way Tesla/Musk markets their technology is very misleading, if not fraud. They are partly to blame.
Why is this guy being charged. Arrest Johnny cut corners aka the con man elon musk. Elon the con kills another person
If we can’t rely on autopilot then make it illegal. Ban autopilot. If there was no autopilot that kid wouldn’t have been given the false sense of security to not pay attention.
Auto Driving Tesla is a Joke.
“Levels of Automation”
0- No Automation
1- Driver Assistance
2- Partial Automaton. 👉🏻 Tesla ✅
3- Conditional Automation
4- High Automation
5- Full Automation
All Drivers of EV’s are fully liable even with AutoPilot on…
