For the first time in United States history, the speaker of the House of Representatives has been removed.
Kevin McCarthy was targeted by a small group of hardline Republicans after he made a deal with Democrats to prevent a government shutdown over the weekend.
McCarthy says he won’t run for the position of speaker again.
