Indonesia is launching Southeast Asia’s first high-speed railway, after years of delays on the multibillion-dollar project. The line will connect two of the country’s largest cities and is part of Beijing’s Belt and Road initiative.
But some economists are concerned it poses debt risks.

Further, the vultures loans range from 8-10% interest rates while Chinese loans are government loans at 3% interest, and China is pretty flexible if problems comes. But those hackstaers do not have that knowledge and are too stupid to know anything besides the scripts that they have been given after which they check their bank accounts money from the US. Sellouts!
And this fast train will be further developed not just to Bandung from Jakarta but will be to Surabaya too. It’s a good long term investment.

The same Chinese debt trap black filter is getting old. The Lao railway got the same label, now this railway increased their GDP by 6% and increased export from Thailand and Vietnam to China by 5%, and no media report. What a double standard!

Some fancy-car-driving dude who grew up in an air-conditioned house likely would never truly understand what a highly efficient, affordable, mass transportation system means to a developing country and its people. From a user standpoint, I would say the ticket price is a bit high in comparison to China, but this might not be fair since China`s strategy is to subsidize mass transportation in order to boost the economy and not just focus on the profitability of each project. Sensible infrastructures are an enabler for businesses. You can’t do serious business when you waste much of your time traveling. Sure, it will cost, and rather much too. Is $10 Billions for some weapons system a better way to spend than it is to build rail systems?
No country can lay out the entire capital upfront. So a loan is the next best option. If the infrastructures help to generate revenues for businesses, then undoubtedly that is a worthwhile investment. As for the often used term “debt trap” by western countries which find themselves falling behind, results speak louder than words. I do pity those “first world countries” feeling being left behind. They are wondering how could a “third world country”…errr…excuse me…I meant “southern hemisphere”, have better infrastructures than their crumbling systems?

It is alleged that the Japan complied preliminary project design/research data were handed over to China behind the scenes w/o Japan’s permission. I think it could well have been the case because China, who had no prior involvement in the project, would otherwise have been unable to make a feasible offer rather suddenly in the 2015 bid vs Japan, while Japan had been working on the years long research sine 2008.

Most of his so called national strategic project are in huge debt and missed manage. And so on and so on.
