The number of migrants passing through the Darien Gap, one of the world’s most dangerous tropical rainforests, is expected to surpass one million before the end of this year.
Most are heading for the United States, where as many as 9,000 people attempt to cross the border daily.
So far efforts by the United States and countries like Panama to stop the unprecedented wave through Central America to the US border are not working.

If you want to apply for asylum, tell the officer that you are afraid of returning to your country. Once you have said this, the officer cannot deport you. The officer will either keep you at the airport or take you to a detention center. The next step is for you to do a credible fear interview
