Desperate journeys: Record number of migrants crossing deadly Darien gap

The number of migrants passing through the Darien Gap, one of the world’s most dangerous tropical rainforests, is expected to surpass one million before the end of this year.
Most are heading for the United States, where as many as 9,000 people attempt to cross the border daily.
So far efforts by the United States and countries like Panama to stop the unprecedented wave through Central America to the US border are not working.

Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman reports from Bajo Chiquito at the Darien Gap in Panama.
