#Japan #Plane #Tokyo
they had to determine what exits were safe to use and that takes a bit of time and they made the right decision.Cant exit into a fire or an engine that is still running.
Don’t we see here that the front landing gear was broken and the sliding ladders were not at the best inclination angle which is 45 degrees. Thus some passengers chose to run down and they were right. Not all exits were usable at that moment because there was heavy fire outside at the middle section. The Japanese crew did everything right and so were the disciplined passengers 👍👍👍👍👍
Stuck? Wrong title. They never got stuck. They all survived meaning, they evacuated successfully. They are not dead. The media is dumb
No one was stuck . They were waiting because not all exit doors were safe to open when there was fire burning outside 🔥
@@Sandoz-tq7qj I know that. Did you read my comment? Clearly not. read the title.
The Japanese people are great. In Italy we will all be burned to get our luggage.
Probably in any other country in the world, every passenger would have jumped immediately out of their seat to fight brutally to try to get anywhere, without even knowing where to go or what to do; jamming the aisles and cramming frantically into the escapes and causing deaths and injuries.
Don’t understand why these News agencies have to try and create bigger news to try and get more readers, or clicks???? Every one got off the plane safely, plus the attendants had to make sure the slides were deployed on the right side of the plane where there were less flames etc and make sure they deployed correctly before passengers could use them safely!!! Would NBC prefer it if they all got up and run blindly in any direction….imagine the headlines then!!!!
This is scary 😮
Well behaved passengers – no panic.
The title to this video is typical media “Click Bait”. Utterly disgraceful. NBC news should do better than this. These passengers are not stuck on a burning plane, you can clearly see the cabin crew on the interphone system listening to either the flight deck or senior cabin crew to determine the safest option/s to evacuate the passengers. Only 3 of the 8 exits were opened due to the inability to shutdown the right engine as well as the fire from the left engine. The crew’s coordination that we can see here is quite extraordinary and extremely commendable. Assessing the external situation takes time and in this instance undoubtedly saved countless lives.
Shouldn’t happen in 2024 but here we are
They weren’t stuck, they all got off 🤦♂️
Firstly the crews’ judgement and decision of which door for slider to be opened were respectful cuz ,if this judgement was wrong, the fire would have entered into the inside so fast and made the safe & rapid evacuation impossible.
Also, without the cooperation and the patience of those passengers including domestic ppl and foreigners, they could not made this miracles out!
All the Japanese & including some foreign passengers were calm, had so much patience & SO CIVILISED, they did not even get up from the seat, did not try to get their valuables from their cabin trolley, did not scream, even when flames were all around them and cabin full of smoke.
If this happened in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Africa, I think most of the passengers would be dead, because they will start fighting with eachother to get out, no matter what.
I have seen many times in Emirates, Qater & Etihad airlines from Dubai to India or Bangladesh, as soon as the planes wheel touch down, illiterate passengers (mostly labourer from middle east) remove their seat belt, stand up & start getting their cabin trolley from above. They simply have no understanding what they are doing, they don’t understand the safety of them or others.
Note to self…….never flying JAL
Only japanese people would be this respectful in such a life threatening situation. If this were other countries *cough* Americans you know they’d be scrambling over each other shoving and crushing maybe even punching and fighting.
Unbelievable how organize and disciplined everyone behaves. 100% sure any other nationality would have panicked and killed each other on the plane by trampling.
The reason ALL passengers were evacuated is apparent in this video. DISCIPLINE and JAPAN! Imagine this situation in the US or Europe. People would mass panic and some Karens would try to get their luggage.
I’m impressed about how calm they are. Imagine this happened in a different country, people would not have stayed seated.
I bet the Japanese were respectful enough to their fellow passengers NOT to take their hand luggage down the chute
Maybe this place is my exit strategy. As America becomes more uncivil, channeling the hatred and resentment of a guy like Trump, Japanese culture remains the opposite.
I believe the crew are waiting for instructions as to which doors were going to be opened. You wouldn’t want burning fuel blown through an engine at you in the event that the engines can’t be shut down, likewise you don’t want to be sucked into an engine if it isn’t shut down.
Imagine if that plane had lots of “diversity”. They’d be clawing over each other to get out
I am an engineer and fatality risk analyst but not an expert on aircraft.
Two things:
1. Why is there no automatic transponder on a coast guard plane that is operated at hazardous condition (at a certain acceptable risk level) that I know need it more than commercial planes
2. Why did the A350 mid and back doors seize and lock? It should be or should have been designed not to deform at that minuscule impact.
Calling air travellers, if you can help it, better to stay away from this model.
Japanese who are normally excellent in technological things have missed this one.
MaasyaaAllah.. i do salute to all japanese and all passengers on that plane who patiently wait for evacuating. How great you are of control your selves even in the pressure and emergency condition. 😢 God bless you all. And deep condolences to all 5 who passed away 😢 Indonesia did got terrible airplane crashes too this last 20 years. And we know exactly how all of you face that hard and hurts times. Wish always savety for all of us where ever we are. ❤
Great video and translation, tqsm. No unnecessary added movie dramatic music unlike from other you tube news channels.

Yeah, even without understanding the language, the general tone from the passengers is clearly that of extreme worry and panic…it’s a life-threatening situation, no amount of societal stoicness is going to completely override that instinct.
ほとんどがお子さんの声のようですね。他の動画では乗客の方が大丈夫、落ち着いて、荷物を取らないでと的確な言葉で周りの乗客の方を落ち着かせているのに感心しました。
This accident is a replica of the 1991 Los Angeles runway collision, between SkyWest and USAir. Never thought there would be a repeat.

I love how they were just casually on their phones
no all is see were recording the window
Fellow Americans, can you imagine if this happened on Spirit Airlines 😂
Just imagine if this was an American Airlines flight with ghetto woman on board. Just take a bus in LA and you will understand what I mean.
This literally happened yesterday
Absolutely amazed the passengers weren’t trampling each other in an attempt to escape. Their calmness let everyone escape with their lives.
There is no Hollywood, currupt media and government fear mongering in Japan to influence the public into fear. Kudos to their culture.
How to get saved and be right with God for eternal life, from the King James Bible.
10. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
23. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3: 10+23 (KJB)
8. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
9.”Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
12. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all that have sinned:”
Romans 5: 8-9+12 (KJB)
9. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
10.”For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
13.”For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10: 9-10+13 (KJB)
27.”And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
28.”So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
Hebrews 9: 27-28 (KJB)
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Revelation 21: 8 (KJB)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6: 23 (KJB)
(Lastly here is an example of what to pray to God to get saved and forgiven of your sins for eternal life.)
“Dear God, I am a sinner and need saving.
I know I’m not good enough to get to heaven and I need you to save me.
I need the righteousness of your son, Jesus Christ.
I believe that Jesus is the Lord, who died, was buried and resurrected so that his precious blood can wash away my sins.
I trust in him alone to save me.
Nothing else.
Not my good works or anything else.
Only Jesus.
I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
The passengers should be really praised for not creating an havoc even during such a frightening situation. Their calm gesture might have easen the evacuation.
Also, Japanese people are so used to high quality culture, that they have great unconscious trust to the infrastructures around them.
But kudos to Japanese sense of discipline and authority. We are talking 400 passengers getting out of a tiny passageway while engulfed in fire. A 400 crowd would panic, but hey its Japan.
But they weren’t stuck you can’t evacuate until plane stops. A stupid click baiting headline. They all got off
They shouldnt be fiming in an emergency
One question you should ask is why are they filming themselves potentially dying instead of getting off the flight
The patience of these passengers is unreal. Only been to Japan once, but will definitely go again as the country and its people are special.
that is not always a good thing though.
@vanessaruiz4705 What? The people being special?
@@edkiely2712 Probably referring to how it took 18 minutes to evacuate, likely because communication & equipment issues had them sit inside a burning plane instead of opening the doors that looked safe.
If the interior had caught fire a few minutes sooner, this would become a famous example of nobody having the common sense to adapt to an emergency & dying while waiting to be told what to do.
@jumpingturtle8830 The stewardesses are trained to wait for the commands of the cockpit, unless the situation demands that they take their own initiative, like fire being present inside the fuselage. The pilots have to attempt to shut down the engines and/or release the fire retardant into the engines before allowing the stewardesses to act.
You don’t want passengers exiting into engines running from in front or behind. Even then, if people aren’t patient and panic, the results can be disastrous, especially if a hive-mind situation sets in, where people are trampling all over each other. Each situation, though, is unique unto itself!
All that being said, one doesn’t always know how a specific group of humans will react under certain circumstances, but there are cultural differences that do effect how people respond.
Many people saying in the comment section that there’s no difference between Americans vs Japanese passengers in how they would evacuate, obviously don’t remember Flight 383 at Chicago’s O’Hare in 2016, where passengers were told to evacuate immediately due to an engine exploding just before take-off, and remaining on fire. Numerous passengers held-up the evacuation because they were grabbing their on board luggage, which could have been potentially catastrophic.
There was a similar evaluation in 2013 in San Francisco, where passengers did the same. So, more often than not, I would say patience is more helpful.
There was the 2014 Korean Sewol ferry sinking, where over 300 students were told to remain in their cabins, and wait patiently to evacuate, no help came, and they went down with ship. The people who survived were those that disobeyed the orders. So, it can work the other way as well!
@@edkiely2712 Yeah I agree the passengers making an orderly exit without baggage was good.
What I’m arguing for from my armchair, is IIUC if the evacuation took anywhere close to the 18 minute quote, the amount of time to open the doors severely endangered the passengers and crew. So much so that in similar situations, survival will be more frequent when a passenger sees a safe-looking exit, calmly removes obstructions such as flight attendants, and opens it unauthorized. Which is not an action that fits the patient Japanese people trope.
Congrats…for japonese culture.. if was in (lets say, my country),, I am sorry to say that, but no one will be out. Everbody taking luggages out, rushing the doors. Lesson to the would.. in emergency case the luggage store should be locked, so no one should be able to take any luggage.
Typical misleading title. No one was trapped. They were awaiting instructions to exit from the cabin crew.
“Oh we’re about to blow up yeah let’s record this first”. People are so stupid and so addicted to technology
Stuck yes. But kudo to the crew and passengers for keeping their cool so everyone made it out alive. Bravo.
Não ando nessas pragas nem pagando
omg fried rice.
😂😂😂
The cabin crew had a very difficult job of holding back the passengers from exiting the aircraft for the first few seconds. The worry was passengers being engulfed in flames or gassed to death by vaporizing fuel fumes after they leave the aircraft and try to walk away. If the wind is just right, the air crews will deploy the slides and ask the passengers to exit. If the winds blow in the wrong direction the flight crews will keep the plane shut tight until the airport crash firefighters secure a safe passage and assist in the swift evacuation on the ground. This is no doubt a very painful judgment call on the plane captain and head cabin crew stewards part.
Passengers are sitting and they are calm…
Just wow
Happy that everyone is safe
Asi no ANLO. 😆
Gente educada é outro nivel
The world should learn how calm.they were and how fast they evacuated when they listened to the crucial instructions. Had this been in the other countries, people would have panicked and walked over each other.
they were all evacuated safely so how were they stuck?
I saw a video about a cruise ship carrying a bunch of Asian school kids for a school trip not long ago. The ship started sinking and the captain and crew didn’t tell anyone how bad the situation was and the captain told the students to just stay in their rooms for further instructions and left in secret. Most of the kids drowned waiting in their rooms for the instructions still. They made videos crying and panicking and everything but didn’t leave their rooms. It’s definitely a different culture than the west. They take instructions and rules very seriously.
thats south korea.. the captain try to save himself.. and never plan to do anything…go jail already.. i think is a new captain.. because the old one cant make it on that trip.
I can’t imagine being in that plane wondering if I was going to even live! And in fact, I would assume that I wasn’t going to live. This is the reason why I don’t fly. I don’t care what people say. Nothing can justify the fact that if a plane goes down your life is pretty much over. At least in a vehicle I have options to break, speed up, turn left or turn right and even jump out if needed. I can’t stand being in the claustrophobic airplane 30,000 feet up in the air not knowing what could come next. I’ve flown as much as I’ve wanted to at the age of 55 and I’m done with it now. God bless all these individuals and rest in peace to the lives lost.
I suspect the “90 seconds” references in the media possibly confuse the actual time with the 90 second certification requirement. I don’t think there was anyone holding a stopwatch here, and one estimate I read was that the last occupant vacated after 18 minutes.
Newer reports broke down the timeline. The collision @5:47, the last passenger’s evacuation @5:55. Within that 8 minutes, the aircraft skidded 1 km till complete halt, the attendants realized the intercom was not functioning anymore after reporting the fire to the cockpit, the attendants made the decision to start evacuation procedures, they assessed the surroundings to decide which exits to be used safely, and the passengers evacuated. The last passenger landed on the tarmac @5:55. All of these in 8 minutes, and it is estimated that it took less than 2 minutes for the actual evacuation took.
The pilots remained in the cabin and checked for anyone who might have been left behind before their own evacuation. @6:05 the captain landed on the ground, completing the evacuation from the JAL aircraft. Total 18 minutes.
No stopwatch maybe, but the firefighters or the crews might looked at the watch as a protocol, just like the medical team do. One report says the last passenger took a photo after the exit and its time stamp was one of the indicators.
Of course we still need to wait for the final report…
Oh no
Lol, waiting for the plane to stop actually but this is an american channel so…lol 😂
No passengers were “stuck on burning plane” like your headline suggests.
So the first class and economy exit the plane at the same time? Can’t complain.
Calmness saved lives. Sooner other contries learn from Japanese the better. In all aspects of life
This would never happen elsewhere everyone woulda died climbing on top of each other
Thank God these people are safe and alive.
That must’ve been terrifying! I wonder why it took so long to evacuate the passengers from the plane? The passengers shouldn’t have had to plead with the crew. Rest in peace to the 5 people who didn’t make it. 🙏
Halleluya praise the Lord❤
They have stayed calm despite the disaster, hats offto their obidence, no one tried to block the walkway by trying to take their bags from the boxes over their seats, everyone was evacuated safely, hats off to the passengers for their patience and hats off to the cabin crew for getting everyone out of the plane safely.
Their collectivism helps them during the disaster.
They weren’t “stuck” – there was an orderly evacuation. Jees.
If the plane is burning, why are they taking so long to evacuate? Needs to be looked at more carefully.
The cabin crew is the hero of the day. That flight attendant who checks out and does not open that emergency exit saved lives through her calmness. Those are the overwing exits, and if those had been opened we would not be looking at everyone having survived.
The non-panicky fear of the passengers is also to be commended. Panic would have been deadly.
A great testimony to the whole world from the passengers of the plane in crisis mode . The orderly and calm manners in this evacuation is indeed remarkable. This is not a miracle, it’s the discipline and cooperative approach of everyone onboard that ended in a zero casualty tragedy for this plane. But sadly 5 people perished in the other plane.
“hayaku kudasia” they still have manners and so cal asking for crew to hurry
Don’t want to pop a door slide into a fiery inferno.
That’s way I am always getting aisle seat close to emergency exit.
They are not “stuck” the plane was still landing. False clickbait.
it eventually stopped tho, but the staff waited for some protocol stuff 😂 I wouldn’t wait but Japanese people are buncha robots, it’s why they’re so proper
@@Mahinang_Nilalang I would never consider someone who cares about their community members to be a bot. In fact, we have an assload of issues in America because we don’t value our neighbor next to us on a plane, in a car, or near our home. You’re the problem – not the Japanese
This is country of Buddha… See the people inside plane are not in chaos at the time of even such extreme emergency
Wow,I am surprised by the calmness inside the plane.
They were minutes away from a fatality!
they’re robots, what did you expect
Oh my God ! Japanese are just shouting ”let us out please! ” but they remained seated waiting for the quick instructions from the cabin crew. They are really well disciplined.
I swear if that was here in the U.S. I don’t think people would have been this calm and orderly.
🫣
I would say, this evacuation was successful is just because of discipline involved…. Just look at the passengers discipline, 👏👏👏👏 listening to what they are directed to do…
No one is standing or rushing to go out,,,would have caused more casualties..
Japanese discipline Should be seen here and be used as example elsewhere….Salute 🙏👏
Tower should see dash8 on runway
नेपाली भए प्लेन रोक म हावा मै फाल हाल्छु भन्थे होला
respect Japanese !!
Oh look, another hyperbolic media headline… they weren’t “stuck”. An evacuation is a significant and potentially dangerous event. Before it is ordered the captain and crew must make assessments on where the fire is, what doors are operational and the safest exit route and plan. This takes at least a few seconds if not minutes before the evacuation can be ordered. So while dramatic headlines sell clicks… it demonstrates ignorance…
The most disciplined people on the planet.
These flight attendants did a wonderful job and all the people who followed instructions and not stop and try to bring their stuff with them not like here in America where the people don’t listen and are trying to get their stuff from the over head compartments! I think if this were here in America there wouldn’t be that many survivors unfortunately, people are to worried about getting their luggage then just getting off the plane now! GOD Bless to all who reads this!!❤🙏
this is japan airlines flight 516 it happend on january 2 2024 when an a350 was landing and colided into (what looks) a bombardier Q400 thankfully everybody got out of the a350 safely and evacuated escaping with only minor injuries everyone was safe but unfortunately for the (coast gaurd) Q400 out of the 6 people 5 died and only the pilot escaped
I’m Japanese, Japan is a country with a lot of volcanoes and earthquakes, and there are many difficult disasters, so we have repeated and thorough evacuation drills since we were in elementary school. We respond calmly, judge the situation, cooperate with the surroundings and help each other. It has been deeply penetrated into culture for a long time as a common practice. I have received such strict training, so I will naturally help you even if there are foreign travelers nearby. It is very important for us to work together to help everyone. Thank you for your concern from people all over the world.
Props to the crew getting everyone off safely and in a timely matter. Another accident just happened on an Alaskan airliner. Lost it’s emergency door in flight. No one was sitting by the exit thank god. These kind of innocents seem to be getting more common. Better find a solution soon before another major tragedy happens.
So I’m not getting my checked bag?
This is a testament to the amazing engineering work by Airbus, the A350 incredible structural design and rigidity performed remarkably, allowing to come to a safe stop even after being hit by another aircraft while landing.
That amazing composite design allowed the evacuation of all passengers safely. Well done Airbus!
I heard that kid say : ‘Crew Die Side ‘ repeatedly. What does that mean in Japanese ?
Pls save us
It is “ください(kudasai)”, used for asking a favor.
The girl says “早く出して下さい(hayaku dashite kudasai)”. What she means is: “Please let us out right now!”
you ar fake news !! giving the big boss 10%
What are the ppl shouting on the plane?
Brilliant passengers
I have to ask a question. DO THEY COUNT THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS ALREADY EVACUATED ? Someone may still be trapped inside 👨🧔🙎👱♀👴👵🐕🙋♂🙎♀🙋♀👶🙆♀🤷♀👩⚕👨⚕👨💼🥷👳🧕👳♀🧕🤵👰♀🤶🧝🤴👸👴🧓👱♂👱♀👩👧👦🐈🧙🧕🥷🥷🥷
