The rate of deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest rose for the fourth consecutive month in June.
And there are serious concerns that it would only get worse with more drought and forest fires feared.

@Konsta T Pashion I don’t think you realize now much deforestation has occurred in Europe and North America… at one point we wiped every last wolf off the map of the lower 48 states, we had to reintroduce them from Canada and Alaska. We nearly killed all the bison, too, when we decided to farm and ranch the Great Plains instead of letting them roam.

Cutting down on meat consumption is a good idea. However, the devastation of the Amazon rainforest over the last few years has been simply for the sale of wood abroad. Today there are militias that are taking advantage of the negligence of the current president of the republic “Jair Messias Bolsonaro” and are stopping the trafficking of weapons and drugs to cut down the virgin rainforest of the Amazon and sell their wood. Unfortunately, the senator is bleak because deforestation will continue as the federal government encourages such a measure, and they are trying to pass more laws in the federal senate to expropriate indigenous areas and be able to exploit them for gold mining.
