People on the East Coast felt more aftershocks on Saturday from the historic 4.8-magnitude earthquake that rattled cities up and down the Atlantic seaboard on Friday. This is raising questions about whether New York City is ready for a major earthquake. NBC News’ George Solis has more.

I wouldn’t be too sure about the buildings being earthquake strengthened. We had a big earthquake in Chch NZ 13 years ago. Despite many years of earthquake strengthening etc of NZ buildings, our city was ruined. Almost our entire city centre was subsequently demolished. It was an unusually devastating eq but we were not expecting anything like it!
