The early warning system went off throughout the island except in Taipei and the greater Taipei area. Around 400 people in that region got hurt, but no alarms went off.

I’m an American in Taiwan now and the Taiwanese are very strict with rules, so you can trust the architecture and engineering here. They definitely don’t cut corners when it comes to safety. That’s why everyone still wears masks and it’s 2024

Taiwan was one of the dopest places I’ve ever visited. I was living right across the sea in Fujian province for four years. Definitely considering trying to find a job in Taiwan next.
Actually, wearing masks is a thing which is normally done in asian countries when one must go to work our out into public and thinks they may be (or is) sick.

San Francisco is definitely NOT prepared. Never-mind the earthquake, our city officials approved a big high rise, now a leaning tower that was built on the landfill. It will be the first building to come down when the next quake hits.
