Mexico has cut diplomatic ties with Ecuador.
That’s after police raided the Mexican embassy in Quito.
They arrested Ecuador’s former Vice President Jorge Glas, who had been evading detention in the Mexican embassy since December.

The entire idea behind asylum is that people that are (unjustifiably) being considered criminals in their country of origin are protected. It is up to the granting country to determine whether they consider the grounds of prosecution reasonable or not. That’s the entire point of asylum. I am mexican and many in my country feel the same I am about to write here. Ok Ecuador violated international conventions but Mexico was first violating those conventions because they gave asylum to a man that is convicted before the law of Ecuador of civil crimes, he was judged and sentenced. it is not political but just a thieve who knew that Mexico was willing to pick up a new fight with his country. not only that but it was 2nd time around, México did the same with former president Evo Morales who attempted a coup d’Etat, failed and then run directly to the Méxican embassy, besides that, mexicos´s president AMLO has been attacking, criticizing the established legal authorities of Ecuador, suggesting conspiracy theories about last elections in the country. So in a nutshell; both countries violated international conventions, México started and Ecuador finished with the strongest move, a bad one to be sure, but not an unprovoked one. Mexicos´ government wanted something like this was trying with Peru first so they could wrap themselves in the flag of nationalism rally the sheep around them in the coming elections in which they are afraid their bad government will not be renewed by mexican voters. and if they lose the comming elections and flee México trying to avoid being judged for their multiple crimes, We mexicans hope that no country will give them asylum because they have to pay in México their crimes AMLO, his political party MORENA and most of the people who are today in power.

Glas was previously convicted on bribery and corruption charges in two separate cases, one of which was tied to the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht and earned him a six-year prison sentence.

It first aids and abets criminals, such as the cartels, and then when someone objects, claims ”sovereignty” to do absolutely nothing. Uses threats to allow unrestricted illegal immigration as bargaining chip in negotiations with the USA, and has antagonized the USA at every step. He has acted like the self appointed leader of Latin America, demanding that USA remove sanctions from Cuba and Venezuela, and give billions in aid to Central American countries. Even demanded that millions of Mexicans living in the USA illegally be given legal status, so much for “sovereignty.” I know what Ecuador did was a flagrant violation of international law, and can’t help but relish in the humiliation of AMLO. Mexico has been put in its place for once, and I get a deep sense of satisfaction from that. From antagonizing the USA and acting like the leader of Latin America, to being humiliated by a Latin American country a fraction of its size and population has shown Mexico to be the insignificant country that it really is.
