Chinese Premier Li Qiang is on a three-day visit to Malaysia starting Tuesday as both countries mark 50 years of diplomatic ties.
Li hopes to push Malaysia closer to China during his visit, as the Southeast Asian country has had stronger ties with the West, said this professor.
China sees Malaysia as a very important country due to its strategic position in the South China Sea, he said.
