Texas did this in Harvey to scare people into evacuating. Why can’t people understand not everyone can get out? The traffic is crazy and there aren’t enough gas stations on the way to support it. A lot of people in Texas died trapped on the side of the highway during Rita. Sometimes, it’s actually safer to stay put. I’ve been in the situation where I had to weigh the chances of ever making it to San Antonio if I tried to leave.
I don’ t know why anybody would want to live in FL. They have to do this 1-2 a year. Better off in GA or TN

Statistically- more people die when a hurricane is named after a woman because idiots find it ‘less threatening’ with a feminine name and less people evacuate. I would send out a “scary” message as well to knock some sense into people.
Florida is great from December through April. Not to live there full-time, but a great vacation spot in Winter. That’s why you need to be rich enough to afford two houses, one down there and one somewhere in the mountains. Unfortunately, I’m not rich enough to do that.

If you live in Florida long enough, if you refuse to evacuate, then that is strange. My uncle didn’t evacuate way back when hurricane Rita hit. He survived but said later it was the worst night of his life. But if you refuse to evacuate, then putting a name tag on yourself seems irrelevant. You’re dead. You won’t care at that point.

Hi I am a resident of FL for over 40 years. These pungent government officials tell us to evacuate during a storm. TO WHERE AN HOW??????? The roads are clogged, it takes only one car to break down, the hotels and motel are booked, the gas stations will soon be dry, the restaurant are out of food and first responders are taking care of others. No thank you, I will stay in my well built home and ride it out as I ALWAYS have done.
So, where’s the hurricane? That’s just a summer storm. Real-time wind censors state 40mph? Why do you guys pack this grand try to sell it to the people?
