Predictions/paths that are 1 week+ in advance with little-to-no concern rarely go where we expect them. FL, however, puts too much hype on storms, especially being a vulnerable peninsula. And while they dodged a bullet this time (and to some extent so did we in the Carolinas and Virginia due to increase travel speed and intensity), the season is not near the peak. There is still a month to go before that happens. As active as the tropics are now, we can at least expect the season to be busy. There is plenty of time for strong storms to make more East Coast landfalls and cause much more damage than what is currently happening. This is a small wake-up call to be prepared.
