Turkey: University students asked to vacate dormitories to shelter quake survivors

Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday that university accommodation will be used to house those affected by the earthquakes. Students in Istanbul have been leaving their university dorms to make room for survivors. More than a million people have been made homeless by these quakes. Hope fades in Turkey, Syria with time running out on the buried

Hope of finding survivors is quickly fading as stretched rescue teams in Turkey and Syria search for signs of life in the debris of thousands of buildings toppled by the world’s deadliest earthquake in more than a decade. The extent of the devastation was breathtaking, with rows of apartment blocks reduced to twisted metal, rubble and dust in many communities. Rescuers formed human chains as they tried to dig through collapsed buildings, urging quiet every so often in the hopes of hearing stifled pleas for help. Hope, heartbreak as children pulled from rubble in Turkey, Syria

Millions of children caught in the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which was followed by a second magnitude 7.6 earthquake hours later and more than 100 aftershocks. Exhausted rescuers got a boost when they pulled a four year old boy from a collapsed building in Saliurfa.
