Hope of finding survivors is quickly fading as stretched rescue teams in Turkey and Syria search for signs of life in the debris of thousands of buildings toppled by the world’s deadliest earthquake in more than a decade.
The extent of the devastation was breathtaking, with rows of apartment blocks reduced to twisted metal, rubble and dust in many communities. Rescuers formed human chains as they tried to dig through collapsed buildings, urging quiet every so often in the hopes of hearing stifled pleas for help.

I was in Mexico City ’85 earthquake at 8.1 M and lasted for 2 minutes and 41 seconds, no way to walk nor run, you needed to grasp in something a pole, wall, or simply lying down checking your surroundings . I recall that the inclination that building got, felt like a Tsunami stroke in building and we were in a big cruise in a terrible storm because 2:45 is way too long. I went with my friend just to get a call from his cousun,come to help, and that was it, no more phones. 30k-50k deaths . Israel has awesome equipment to raise vlocks of concrete with air, pneumatic Jack’s made of rubber like but immediately worked. The cold here is a factor but shocked that they plan the rescues after a week. The avg. in adults were found alive until 2 weeks and some days drinking the urine and babies lasted until 3wks and half. Hope yhey find as much as possible .

It’s impossible to clear all these massive concrete debris. Unfortunately those trapped under and still alive will die a slow and painful death. Very hard to accept that. We can only pray to God that they don’t suffer.
