In the south of Ukraine, there has been fierce fighting as Ukrainian forces tries to gain ground in a counteroffensive to retake ground occupied by Russian troops. Officials say it will not be a quick operation and are asking Ukrainians to be patient. At least 500 people have been killed in the city of Kharkiv since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the regional emergency service has said.
