Israel rejects UN Security Council Gaza resolution

After more than a month of devastating conflict, and more than 11,000 Palestinian and 1,200 Israeli deaths, the UN Security Council passed a resolution on Wednesday calling for extended humanitarian pauses and the release of captives held in Gaza. The US abstained from voting on the resolution, which does not mention the word ‘ceasefire’, and Israel has rejected the Security Council’s legally binding decision. UN Security Council adopts resolution for ‘humanitarian pauses’ in Gaza

After four failed attempts, the UN Security Council has adopted a resolution calling for urgent pauses in fighting in Gaza and humanitarian corridors – to allow aid through. UN approves international force to aid Haiti amid gang violence

BRICS discusses expanding its membership

United Nations Security Council reform and introducing a common currency – those were two of the proposals discussed at a meeting of the BRICS economic bloc. Foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and hosts South Africa, are holding talks in Cape Town. Iran chides US as world refuses to reimpose sanctions
