Members of the Portuguese Catholic Church have sexually abused more than 4,000 children since 1950. That is among the findings of a commission investigating child abuse in the Portuguese Church, released on Monday. Most of the victims were men, and 77 percent of perpetrators were priests, the commission said. It is the latest in a long series of investigations into sexual crimes by Catholic priests in numerous countries.
