Aid is being sent from Thailand to people displaced by fighting in Myanmar after violence eased near the border in the past two days. But ethnic Karen fighters in Myanmar say they will only negotiate a ceasefire if Myanmar’s military leaves areas where fierce fighting has been taking place. But this week an influx of at least 8,000 was unusually high, threatening a humanitarian crisis. Many were young men, but there were also families and unaccompanied minors.
