The Red Cross says more than 6,000 people have fled into western Uganda. Fighting between the M23 rebel group and the army in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has sent thousand on the run. Nine years ago, M23 took control of swaths of territory along the DRC border with Rwanda, but was defeated in 2014 with the help of a peacekeeping mission. Ukraine’s Azov battalion has been the main force defending the city of Mariupol. The group has a reputation for fighting fiercely, but it has also said to hold far-right views. In 2016 the United Nations accused it of violating international humanitarian law. In 2019, 40 US congress members unsuccessfully tried to designate the Azov as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation. The Saudi coalition has launched air strikes in Sanaa and Hodeidah in retaliation against attacks on its oil facilities. Yemen’s Houthi rebels say they hit several areas inside the Kingdom on Friday. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched a series of attacks on targets in Saudi Arabia. No injuries have been reported but oil storage facilities have been damaged in a barrage of drones and at least one ballistic missile.
