Mines, unexploded munitions riddle Nagorno-Karabakh region

Thirty years before the most recent conflict, Nagorno-Karabakh was mired in another war. It left a deadly legacy. Azerbaijan estimates 14,000 square kilometres (5,405 square miles) in and around the region are contaminated with mines and unexploded munitions. They pose a serious danger to civilians – and to the crews tasked with clearing the sites. Fresh push for peace as Nagorno-Karabakh truce fails

Russia’s foreign minister says Turkey will not be involved in peace talks over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Russia have been meeting in Moscow. Nagorno-Karabakh truce crumbling as warring sides allege attacks

A ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan is under threat following new attacks in the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Each side is blaming the other for not respecting the truce. Azerbaijan and Armenia have accused each other of violating the terms of a ceasefire in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, raising questions about how meaningful the truce, brokered by Russia on Friday, would turn out to be.
