Airbus has cancelled a $6bn contract with Qatar Airways for 50 of its new A321neo passenger jets, escalating a legal battle between the two companies over paint on the recently delivered A350s. Qatar Airways called Airbus’s decision announced on Friday “a matter of considerable regret and frustration”. In December, Airbus was taken to court by Qatar Airways in London, following a series of alleged problems with the Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline complained the paint on the recently delivered Airbus A350s was cracking and peeling, exposing copper meshing used to insulate the aircraft against lightning strike. AT&T and Verizon will delay launching new wireless service near some airports in the United States after the nation’s largest airlines said the service would interfere with aircraft technology and cause massive flight disruptions. The decision from the telecommunication companies arrived Tuesday as the administration of US President Joe Biden tried to broker a settlement between the telecom companies and the airlines over a rollout of new 5G service, scheduled for Wednesday. The first civilian flight has left Kabul’s airport since the Taliban took over Afghanistan. The airport has not been operational since US troops finally withdrew last week. It has now been repaired with the help of technical teams from Turkey and Qatar. 0 A passenger jet rained debris on the Denver suburbs, narrowly missing a home, after it suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff on Saturday. The Honolulu-bound United Airlines Flight 328 made an emergency landing at Denver’s international airport when one of the Boeing 777-200 engines experienced trouble and caught fire. There were cheers of relief from passengers on the flight after a dramatic landing.
