US announces 10-nation force to counter Houthi attacks in Red Sea

The US Defense Secretary has arrived in Doha after visiting Bahrain and Israel on Monday. Lloyd Austin announced the formation of a multinational naval task force to patrol the Red Sea. Saudi FM: Full ties restored between Qatar and blockading nations

0 Full relations would resume between Qatar and the four nations that had imposed a blockade on Doha, Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister said on Tuesday. Leaders from across the Gulf region have signed a declaration calling for solidarity and stability, at a summit held to resolve the dispute that lasted three-and-a-half years. Saudi Arabia opens its borders with Qatar on eve of Gulf summit

0 Saudi Arabia is opening its land border to Qatar, a move that could lead to a resolution of the three-and-a-half-year diplomatic crisis that led to the blockade of the tiny Gulf state. The announcement on Monday came on the eve of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt imposed a diplomatic, trade and travel boycott on Qatar in June 2017, accusing Doha of supporting “terrorism” and having ties with Iran they said were too close. Qatar Airways seeks $5bn compensation from blockading quartet

Qatar Airways has launched international arbitration seeking at least $5bn from four Arab countries as compensation for blocking it from their airspace and removing it from their markets. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt have essentially banned the airline since June 2017 when they cut all ties with Qatar and imposed an air, land and sea blockade on it over accusations of supporting “terrorism”. Qatar says talks to end GCC crisis were suspended in January

Qatar’s foreign minister said recent efforts to end the blockade against the country have not suceeded. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut all political, trade and transport ties with Qatar in 2017. The foreign minster said that talks to ease tensions ended last month.
