Saudi Arabia opens its borders with Qatar on eve of Gulf summit

Saudi Arabia is opening its land border to Qatar, a move that could lead to a resolution of the three-and-a-half-year diplomatic crisis that led to the blockade of the tiny Gulf state.
The announcement on Monday came on the eve of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt imposed a diplomatic, trade and travel boycott on Qatar in June 2017, accusing Doha of supporting “terrorism” and having ties with Iran they said were too close.
Qatar has repeatedly denied the allegations and said there was “no legitimate justification” for the severance of relations.

Al Jazeera’s Jamal Elshayyal reports from Doha, Qatar.
