Ren Zhengfei, CEO and founder of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, explains why he “wasn’t very surprised” when he heard the U.S. had put the company on its Entity List.
CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal reports that Huawei’s own operating system may be ready for use in China this year. That, however, would only happen if Huawei is completely banned from using software from Google and Microsoft, according to a company executice.
Glen Nager, lead counsel for Huawei, says the U.S. law that bans government agencies from buying the Chinese technology giant’s equipment is “unconstitutional.” He says the law is “hurting” Huawei’s customers, and the company wants to “cooperate” with America to bring its products back into the country.
