Ethnic rebel groups train Myanmar protesters

Fighters opposed to the military government seized a police station in the eastern town of Mobye on Sunday. It was set on fire, and at least 13 security personnel were captured or killed. And after facing nearly four months of a violent crackdown – a growing number of young, anti-military protesters are joining ethnic rebel groups for training. Fighting erupts in eastern Myanmar near Thai border

ASEAN demands ‘immediate cessation of violence’ in Myanmar

Southeast Asian nations have called for an immediate end to violence against civilians in Myanmar. ASEAN leaders have come up with a five-point plan after meeting the head of Myanmar’s military government, in Jakarta. However, ASEAN tried to rein in Myanmar’s military before, in the early ’90s and ’00s, but to little avail.
