Southeast Asian nations have called for an immediate end to violence against civilians in Myanmar.
ASEAN leaders have come up with a five-point plan after meeting the head of Myanmar’s military government, in Jakarta.
However, ASEAN tried to rein in Myanmar’s military before, in the early ’90s and ’00s, but to little avail.

ASEAN functions based on a policy of consensus and non-interference of the internal affairs of each of its 10 members states. It can condemn but has no means of enforcing whatever action it wants to see from the Myanmar Military.
It’s still up to the Military to walk-the-talk or do lip-service and ASEAN can’t do anything about it.
They can kick Myanmar off ASEAN, thus limiting trades and raises import taxes for Myanmar’s goods.
