North Korea carries out suspected ballistic missile launch

North Korea has fired two suspected ballistic missiles, Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide said on Thursday. The missiles were launched from South Hamgyong Province into the sea off Japan’s eastern coast. The US Pacific Command says this shows Pyongyang is a threat to its neighbours. Samsung Electronics’s vice chairman Jay Y Lee sent back to prison

0 A South Korean court has sentenced Samsung Electronics vice chairman Jay Y Lee to two-and-a-half years in prison, with implications for the direction of the technology giant and how Koreans view big business. Lee, 52, was convicted of bribing an associate of former President Park Geun-hye and jailed for five years in 2017. He denied wrongdoing, the sentence was reduced and suspended on appeal, and he was released after serving a year. North Korea promises ‘retaliatory punishment’ for the South

Coronavirus: South Korea raises alert level to highest

South Korea has raised its disease alert to the highest level after a surge in coronavirus infections and two more deaths, while Chinese state media warned the outbreak had yet to reach a turning point despite some signs of easing. South Korea’s president said on Sunday he was putting the country on “red alert” due to the rapid rise in new cases, which are largely being traced back to church services.
