Philippines, China trade blame over collisions in contested South China Sea

The Philippines has summoned the Chinese ambassador after vessels belonging to the two countries collided in the South China Sea. The countries have blamed each other for the two incidents on Sunday. South China Sea dispute: Philippine gov’t steps up sea patrols

Tensions between The Philippines and China have resurfaced in the past few weeks with China announcing it will push for a code of conduct in the disputed waters of the South China Sea. China warns countries against interference on Taiwan

China’s defence minister has issued a stark warning: foreign interference in Taiwan is ‘doomed to fail’. Wei Fenghe’s address at the Shangri-La dialogue in Singapore focused on Beijing’s stance on Taiwan. Tensions between China and the US are front and centre on the last day of the summit. On Saturday the US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin accused Beijing of intimidation and aggression towards Taiwan. China says the island’s reunification with the mainland is inevitable. South China Sea dispute: Philippines wants Chinese ships to leave reef

The Philippines is urging Beijing to recall hundreds of fishing vessels that it said were spotted near the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. The Philippine military released photos of Chinese ships at the disputed Whitsun reef claimed by both countries. The Chinese Embassy says these vessels were not part of any maritime militia but fishing boats taking shelter during rough seas. Taiwan air force flexes muscles after latest Chinese incursion

0 Taiwan’s air force conducted drills to simulate a war scenario on Tuesday. The exercises took place just two days after the country’s air defence identification zone was breached twice by several Chinese planes. China is due to start a large-scale military exercise on Thursday in the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
