Thousands of people have been told to leave their homes, after a volcanic eruption on the Spanish Canary Islands. The eruption followed a week of increasing seismic activity on the island of La Palma. With a population of 85,000, La Palma is one of the eight volcanic islands in Spain’s Canary Islands archipelago off Africa’s western coast.
