The volcano on La Palma in the Canary Islands is showing signs of intensifying eruptions, after two more fissures opened on Friday.
So far, it has emitted more than double the molten rock of the last eruption in the 1970s.

Everyone living on an island with a volcanic origin will have to realize the fact that the day will come that the volcano will break out again.

All of the islands in the area are volcanic. The on issue that the one on la Palma is the youngest of the 7. 6 are dormant.

Bottomline that destruction is only occurring because people have made a bad choice its not going to end well if you put your house in the locality of a highly active volcano.

If you wait several years as the lava will be still a few thousand degrees underneath the lava that has started to cool. Your also need a gas mask, hazmat suit. As your he dealing with carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, acid rain, sulphur dioxide. Give it few years and your be able to build a villa there.
It seems underwater volcanos could possibly account for the same amount of displacement of water as “global warming”

When La Palma collapses into the ocean, the eastern seaboard of the US will be hit by a tsunami.
@thatGuyQuincy Don’t believe everything that I have said. If I were living on the coastal areas of the eastern seaboard, if there’s news that La Palma has just collapsed into the sea, the first thing I’ll do is to drive west, inland for at least 50 miles and stay there for at least a week and see how things turn out. Better safe than sorry.
Jack Hui i dont believe everything u or the other guy said because u repeating everything that the 2 guys i mentioned on earlier post who started all this hysteria is saying..i also said after other scientist checked they statement them 2 guys backed off…like i said when i first heard of la palma was like 2001-2002 on a “mega tsunami “ documentary featuring them 2 guys 1 was from cali or alaska the other guy was from england…the guy from england went to la palma & filmed inside it & showed cracks in the structure & said due to water being all in the structure that in a future eruption the heated lava mixing with that water can create a landslide(end of documentary he even said it might not slide in the next eruption it might take several eruptions)
I personally would be more focused / concerned about yellowstone super volcano or a asteroid collision before “la palma” producing enough energy for a mega tsunami cross the atlantic to devastate the eastcoast of america (smaller islands in between different story)
It’s worse case scenario mentioned in the documentary. It would need a strong earthquake to cause the the landslides. There’s only been magnitude 3 tremors

Hard to believe there are 85K people living on La Palma. And they’ve squeezed themselves on top of almost every livable space available. Good luck with that living on a volcano.

Does the moons gravitational pull effect lava like it does to water? Do the eruptions increase when in the moons orbit is closest to Earth?
Judging from past eruptions the volcano could be active for months. This may very well be a positive as it will lessen in time releasing the built-up pressure slowly without a major explosion. The Tsunami hyperbole is more science fiction than science fact. The devastation is very localized so given financial aid to charities that are involved would be helpful instead of spreading fear.
