A new wave of Russian strikes on Ukraine has left at least three people injured in the capital Kyiv, the city’s mayor has said. Three Russian military personnel have been killed from the debris of a Ukrainian drone that was shot down and fell on a military base deep inside Russia, the country’s defence ministry has said. “On December 26, at about 01:35 Moscow time, a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down at low altitude while approaching the Engels military airfield in the Saratov region,” the Russian Defence Ministry said on Monday. Electricity supplies in the Kyiv region are at a “critical” level, with less than half the capital’s power needs being supplied after more focused Russian missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure, regional officials said. Local Ukrainian officials say two people have been killed in a missile attack overnight on the southeastern region of Zaporhizhzhia following new Russian missile strikes. At least two explosions were heard in Kyiv on Tuesday and smoke could be seen rising over the city. Russia has ordered its forces to withdraw from the Ukrainian city of Kherson, the only regional capital seized by President Vladimir Putin’s troops since the war began.
