Workers retrieved the body of a young boy who was trapped for five days in a well in northern Morocco, a devastating end to a painstaking operation that gripped the nation.
The royal palace said in a statement carried by state media on Saturday that the boy had died before rescuers could save him.
Moroccan King Mohammed VI expressed his condolences to the boy’s parents.

Tragic death. Thousands of other children die every day for reasons far worse than falling in a well. It’s sad that they never make it to TV and have the whole world pray for them and make a scene on social media platforms.

In the 21st century, this is an affront to human ingenuity.
How is it that human-kind can learn to produce and use elaborate weapons to kill other human beings, but can’t find a way to stop an innocent 5 year old who suffered at the bottom of a well for 4 days and then finally died?
Praying 5 times a day didn’t help, a grill over the well would have.
Was Allah distracted for 4 days?!
