What the video fails to mention is that most of the Separatist forces are unmarked Russian soldiers that invaded the region a few years ago during the Little Green Men incident. We’re not talking about some rag tag group of Ukrainian terrorists that suddenly decided they want to live under the boot of Putin. These “rebels” are fully kitted in modern Russian uniforms, using modern Russian weaponry, driving around in modern Russian armored vehicles, including tanks.
@Karl Von Eberfeld-Dunquartzhausen We are neighbours to Russia as well you know. The last time i saw artillery firing a live round was in the army, artillery regiment, mobile cannons. But no, those natives are busy petting their reinsdeer, and picking wildberries. They do as they always have done. But now the main-part of Norway can avoid trying to run things from the goverment in south, and by that things they dont even have a slightst clew about. So its a win win.
The closest point of real shelling in Norway, was in the 60’s with 1000 USSR tanks accross the border, and visible by some borderguards from a tower, then they saw a shot from a distance, and embraced them selves, but it was a blindshot. If those guards would escalate to a emergency, and then shoot back, the 3rd world war might have been triggered back then. But lately, I dont think so. It’s more about the sea in those areas above the northern Norway. Whats happening there, stays there, untill it cant be kept a secret.

The Russian separatist never observed the Minsk Accords in 2014 or 2015 and have been fighting in the Ukraine from 2014 to this day. So Russia’ was never able to get the Ukrainian separatist to agree to the Minsk Accord.

All this is due to Stalin’s Holodomor, a genocide from 1932-33. Stalin starved eastern Ukrainians to death and brought Russians into their territories. Ukraine ought to recognize this fact and offer Donetsk and Lugansk a strong autonomy, but not a seccession, wich is now under way due to Putin’s search for open seas.
Donetsk and Lugansk exist because the Russian army sent supplies and sometimes manpower. Ukranians are as fond of their behaviour as the separatists are fond of the Azov brigade, in the sense they won’t touch that with a ten foot pole.

The primary goal of a retreating army is maintain its military potential while at the same time denying an invasion force any access to the resources they gain from an invasion aka scorch earth policy. The Russian invasion if not done quickly enough may end up forcing Ukraine military to destroy the Donetsk and Luhansk region before they leave.
They don’t have the capability personnel wise and they don’t have the ordnance .
@Erik << but that makes the invasion force line of logistics more vulnerable as they advance. .. the use of loitering munitions means that any large capacity logistic line can be identified and destroyed - so the larger the invasion force the more vulnerable it becomes

Artificially intelligent defense/weapon systems that can stay on the battle field for hours if not days at a time until they complete their mission. The advantage of having more boots on the ground might be obsolete in this military scenario.

Khrushchev created Ukraine out of whole cloth, like Britian created ‘Isreal’ and ‘India’, neither of which ever existed in the past, and were separatist break-away republics, like ‘Ukraine’. ?Now Donetsk and Luhansk can’t break-away WHY? Because Ukraine is the main LNG pipeline route to EU, worth $10sBs in transit fees.
Donetsk and Luhansk were seized by Russian-backed forces, the likes of which annexed Crimea. The Ukraine won it’s right to exist from the USSR. “Palestine” is also a concept created by colonial powers that did not exist before.

Russian “green men” were heavily involved in the Crimean annexation, and they continue supporting the separatists to make it too difficult for the Ukranian military to overwhelm them. And then units like the fascist Azov Brigade commit war crimes & Russia complains about it, even though they sent radical extremist cechen death squads into Ukraine. The reality of holding both nations to the same standard shows many hands soaked with blood.
The problem would not have been so serious if the US and Europe had removed Russia’s legitimate security concerns.
Every country has the right to join, refuse or oppose a military alliance like NATO. Ukraine is free to choose, and Russia cannot justify an invasion of a nation’s soil merely because Ukraine joins NATO. If we hold Ukraine responsible for aligning with the US and UK, we must hold Russia responsible for aligning with Turkey, Iran, North Korea and China.

The region was taken by Russian involvement and armament of the separatist regions. You can guess what happened to the ethnic Ukranians and Ukranian nationalists who objected. Removed or executed.
