Australia says it’s “deeply disappointed” that the Solomon Islands has signed a wide-ranging security agreement with China.
The US and its allies in the Asia-Pacific say it could destabilise the islands and the region, bringing Chinese warships within 2,000km of the Australian coast.

Australia has provided so much funding for the Solomon Islands and respected their sovereignty, I actually worked there on behalf of my government to help engineer some of their network infrastructure, accepting China over Australia (yes this is happening now) means the withdrawal of these programs and the large amount of Aussies who are there working on the Island.
