An estimated 66 rivers across 34 counties in southwestern region of Chongqing have dried up, China state media reports. Parts of China are in the grips of a record-breaking heatwave that’s lasted more than two months, the longest since record began.

Warmer winter here in Australia currently, getting 15 degree days, in winter!
Also noticed the humidity levels in summer have been pretty gnarly.

West Coast has been much warmer and wetter than most this Winter for sure (Aus) not looking forward to boxing day period this year (it’s always in the high 30s/40s)

I’m actually surprised by this. China usually comes up with some bizarre plan to take care of things like this. I’m not sure how far from the ocean that this city is I would think that they would pump water from the ocean remove the salt and fill up empty bodies of water across their country.
I do know China’s not alone with this issue right now. It seems like a good part of the world is dealing with this problem.

The process you’re talking about is called “Desalination”. It’s not easy, or cheap. If it were, here in Florida we’d have enough water to pipe out to other states. We’re surrounded by salt water on all but one side.
China is already working on “bizarre plans” to deal with this. like water diversion projects (South–North Water Transfer Project, Yellow river project), desalinization projects will begin full scale once they have all their reactors set up in 2030s, microclimate forming… ) Unfortunately, it will take at least a decade or two to implement them fully. The problem is that the rest of the world (Europe especially) has no plans at all apart from water conservation.
