At least four people are dead after an incident involving a small boat in the English Channel between Britain and France, the British government has said.
According to British media reports, dozens of people were rescued after a small boat capsized in the icy water off the British coast on Wednesday. British radio station LBC reported that 43 people had been rescued.
The vessel reportedly sank while trying to cross the English Channel, with at least 50 refugees and asylum seekers believed to be on board.
Despite freezing temperatures, more than 500 asylum seekers have made the perilous journey in small boats since Sunday alone, with the people traffickers who organise the crossings taking advantage of low winds and calm seas.

I have been deeply saddened by the conflict in Ukraine.
_Our world has become so interdependent that violent conflict between two countries inevitably impacts the rest of the world. War is out-dated – non-violence is the only way. We need to develop a sense of the oneness of humanity by considering other human beings as brothers and sisters. This is how we will build a more peaceful world._
Problems and disagreements are best resolved through dialogue. Genuine peace comes about through mutual understanding and respect for each other’s wellbeing.
We must not lose hope. The 20th century was a century of war and bloodshed. The 21st century must be a century of dialogue.
I pray that peace is swiftly restored in Ukraine.

Every measure the UK has put into place had just resulted in more people trying to cross the Channel and, as they use more dangerous routes, dying in the attempt. The UK needs to start hearing asylum claims in France, so refugees can catch the ferry, instead of relying on the people traffickers.

Don’t get me wrong I am sympathetic to those who are suffering in 3rd world countries but they are both breaking the law and disrespecting these countries sovereignty by trying to illegally enter into Europe. If they have a legitimate asylum claim they then they need to do it LEGALLY!
