Peru has declared a nationwide state of emergency, amid a week of protest and political upheaval following the removal and detention of former President Pedro Castillo.
Peruvian defence minister Alberto Otarola announced the new 30-day measure, which he said involved “the suspension of freedom of movement and assembly” and could include a curfew, on Wednesday due to “acts of vandalism and violence”, including roadblocks.
“The National Police with the support of the Armed Forces will ensure the control throughout the national territory of personal property and, above all, strategic infrastructure and the safety and wellbeing of all Peruvians,” the minister said.

It was Pedro Castillo who intended a coup, not the congress. The congress under the actual constitution were able to vacate him, thankfully as he intended to change the constitution on his favor and his political interests. Ex-president Castillo has been involved in so many scandals, Lost over 70 ministers in less than a year and a half some were fired, some resigned due to scandals or had ties to TERRORIST groups. These protests are very small and very few but most of them are extremely violent, they had burned down police stations and townhall. took over strrategic airports to slow or block the arrival of help. Don’t be fooled, there are terrorist masterminds controlling most of these riots.

Pretty sad how the west is largely covering this. It sounds like for the passed months the congress has prevented an elected leader from doing anything. He seeks to nationalize resources and the elite in the country benefiting from that along with western governments are happy to continue to denounce these protests as harmful but this is todays democracy when it is not respected by those already in power.
