Afghanistan is facing a shortage of basic goods as the UN warns of looming famine. And as bitter cold sets in, Afghans are also scrambling to buy fuel which they can barely afford. The UN humanitarian head has asked donors to reinstate funding frozen since the Taliban took control in the spring of 2021.
