Guterres says he’s shocked by misinterpretations of his statement to Security Council on Tuesday

Antonio Guterres says he was left “shocked” by the “misrepresentations” of his remarks regarding Hamas made on Tuesday during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

“I am shocked by the misrepresentations by some of my statement … as if I was justifying acts of terror by Hamas. This is false. It was the opposite,” the UN chief told reporters.

“I believe it’s necessary to set the record straight – especially out of respect for the victims and their families.”
