The Kenyan government says the death toll from a month of flooding has reached at least 169 people.
Thousands of people are displaced and many others missing.
In the east, a ravine collapsed into the Tana River, causing it to burst its banks.
Rescuers are searching for several people after a boat capsized, trying to cross a dam near the town of Garissa.

Those blaming government should know that a lot of Kenyans live recklessly and do not plan ahead for example when constructing theur homes or deciding where to. They break all laws. Even in the midst of disaster you can see the stupid risks they’re taking ignoring advice.
All they can do is hold executive meetings filled with lavish meals from taxes yet NOTHING is or will happen. Just wait for the next disaster & we, common mwananchi will be forgotten.

This wasn’t a dam break. Every geological survey conducted in the past few days showed no dams broke. In areas around Dams, these floods were caused by massive overflow just as they were designed to do when full. In other flooded areas in Kenya, it was just the good old excessive rains that flooded them. There’s so much miss-reporting on these floods in Kenya it almost sounds scripted by the climate change lobby to make it sound far worse.
20yrs ago never had alot of deaths from rains, something to do with diverting river for electricity without proper calculations nature can not be controlled completely. Secordly lets have way to divert water to its natural ways and build proper structures.
Those who built the dams should be held responsible

Needless to say, to any climate change deniers out there, just look at the devastation these rains have caused here in Kenya. Thankfully in Karen, we are not experiencing the tragedies unfolding elsewhere in the country.
This has to serve as a “wake up call” to those in charge of government. Infrastructure must be invested in, as it’s more than likely this rainy season will not be isolated in its devastating impact on the region as a whole.
