Children in Mexico’s Oaxaca state are not allowed to buy sugary junk food any more.
It comes in an effort to cut down on high levels of obesity in Mexico, which, for children, are among the highest in the world.
Health experts say the COVID-19 outbreak, which has now killed more than 50,000 people in Mexico, has highlighted the added risks of being overweight.

@lou gev junk food is cheap, easy, and quick. Healthy food mostly isn’t. Sometimes you can get cheap fruits and veggies but those aren’t as filling. You can get easy filling foods like nuts & seeds but those are usually expensive. & other foods like rice & beans may be cheap but they are not quick & easy for a lot of people if they have long hours at work. + They’re also pretty boring if you don’t have sides, which are expensive. Making healthy food available and inexpensive is the way to go. + nutrition and recipe education wouldn’t hurt.

In Australia is see parents put in soft drink in baby bottles it’s wrong when government has to control junk food but there’s so many parents that don’t do the right thing by their children
In my Hispanic culture, sadly this was also common. I feel so bad for the babies when I saw things like that…I think now, we have more access to education about nutrition..there is really no valid excuse for parents to do this to their kids
