Nigerian military Intensifies operation against crude oil thieves

The Nigerian armed security forces said it has stepped up its operations against all forms of threats in the country’s maritime environment and has intensified its fight against crude oil thieves, pipeline vandals and other criminals operating in the oil rich Niger Delta. Nigeria has lost more than $3bn in one year – with more losses projected in 2022. The plunder of Nigeria’s oil has left the country unable to meet its OPEC quota. Worshippers gunned down during church service in Nigeria

Gunmen opened fire on worshippers at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria and also detonated explosives. Dozens are feared dead including children. Lawmaker Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said the attackers targeted the St Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as people gathered on Sunday. Among the dead were many children, said Oluwole, who visited the scene and also the hospital in Owo – a town in the state where many of the wounded are being treated. The motives and the precise death toll were not immediately clear. Dozens reportedly trapped after 21-storey building collapses in Nigeria’s Lagos

A 21-storey building has collapsed in the Nigerian city of Lagos. It is believed 50 people are trapped in the building that is reported to have been under construction. Officials in the second-most populous city in Africa have been trying to demolish or retrofit unsafe buildings. Hundreds of pupils feared abducted after attack on Nigeria school

0 Nigerian police has launched a rescue mission after gunmen stormed a secondary school and kidnapped a number of children. The attack took place in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, and police and the military were still working to determine how many were kidnapped and missing. Just two days before the school abduction a village elder along with 20 others was kidnapped in the same state. UN: 110 civilians killed in Nigeria attack

The United Nations says at least 110 civilians have been killed and many more injured in an attack in Nigeria’s northeast. Funerals have been held for some of the dozens of farm workers killed while working in rice fields. Local officials blame Boko Haram fighters for the violence. Several others are thought to have been kidnapped – the UN is calling for their immediate release.
