Video from Myanmar claims to show aftermath of a village massacre

UN officials have condemned the killings of at least 10 people in Myanmar’s northwestern Sagaing district allegedly perpetrated by government security forces. Eyewitness accounts from the area say more than 100 government troops entered Don Thaw village on December 7, searching for armed fighters from the so-called Peoples Defence Force. A video has emerged claiming to show the aftermath of the killing. Nigerian states arm locals against rise in attacks by armed groups

At least 20 people have been killed in Nigeria’s Sokoto state when gunmen attacked a market. Armed groups still disrupt life for millions in the country’s northwest, but Nigeria is also facing growing insecurity across regions. The military and police are stretched dealing with Boko Haram in the northeast, so-called bandits in the northwest, and criminal gangs in the south.
