Ukraine war: Moscow claims capture of Lysychansk

Russia’s defence minister tells President Vladimir Putin that Moscow’s forces “have established full control over the city of Lysychansk” in Ukraine’s Luhansk province. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin that “as a result of successful military operations, the armed forces of the Russian Federation, together with units of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic, have established full control over the city of Lysychansk”, according to Russian news agencies. ECOWAS meeting: Bloc set to discuss politics, regional violence

West African leaders are due to meet in Ghana’s capital as the region sees an increase in attacks by armed groups. Leaders of the ECOWAS bloc are also expected to review sanctions imposed on a number of countries under military rule. Dozens of people found dead in truck in San Antonio, Texas

At least 46 have been found dead inside a tractor-trailer in San Antonio, Texas, in what appears to be a human smuggling attempt along the United States-Mexico border. San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said 16 other people found in the trailer on Monday were transported to the hospital for heat stroke and exhaustion. They included four minors. “The patients we saw were hot to the touch. They were suffering from heat stroke, heat exhaustion.
