Malians rally after army calls for protests over ECOWAS sanctions

Thousands of people have heeded calls by Mali’s military rulers for a nationwide protest against sanctions by the West African economic bloc, ECOWAS. The sanctions were imposed after the country’s military coup leader delayed elections – due next month – until 2025. Kazakhstan: Russia-led forces to withdraw; new PM appointed

After a week of deadly unrest in Kazakhstan, Russia-led forces who were sent to quell riots are preparing to withdraw as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev nominated a new prime minister.
