After a week of deadly unrest in Kazakhstan, Russia-led forces who were sent to quell riots are preparing to withdraw as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev nominated a new prime minister.
Tokayev said on Tuesday that the contingent of troops he requested from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance of ex-Soviet states, would begin leaving the troubled Central Asian country in two days, with the pullout to take no more than 10 days.

CSTO forces goals when helping Kazakhstan: Guard key infrastructure that are possible targets and buy time for Domestic Kazakh forces to re organize themselves and deal with their own problem themselves. This was achieved quickly and CSTO responded instantly after being asked to help. Now they get out after the domestic Kazakh security forces is confident that they can deal with the unrest.
That’s how you help a nation. First get a permission to enter, and leave when the job is done. No other intentions, other than helping the country stabilize and reorganize themselves as a whole
