Since then, millions of Afghans have been going hungry every day. The UN says women and girls are the worst affected. Badri-313: The Taliban brigade patrolling Kabul’s airport

More than two months since chaotic evacuations from Kabul’s international airport after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, things are slowly returning to something closer to normal. The airport is open to aid deliveries, as well as a few charter planes and evacuation flights. An elite unit of the Taliban is now in charge of securing the airport. Afghan economy, carpet exports hit by US sanctions

Afghanistan’s famed carpet industry is facing its biggest crisis since the Taliban took over in mid-August. Taliban: Some abandoned US military hardware may be salvageable

Afghan city defies norm by keeping schools open for girls

The Taliban came to power promising to respect women’s rights and allow girls’ education – in line with Islamic precepts. But high schools and public universities are still closed across Afghanistan as the group says it still needs time to sort out the logistics of allowing female students back. But the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif is the exception that proves the rule.
