Afghanistan’s famed carpet industry is facing its biggest crisis since the Taliban took over in mid-August.
Due to the US freeze on its financial assets and border closures, the carpet exports have plummeted.
It has brought uncertainty to millions of people who depend on the sector.

Hardly any country barring Pakistan have officially recognized Taliban as legitimate govt, even Pakistan had to drop their facade and cancel Pakistan flights into Afghanistan after being harrased by Taliban.
Sanctions such as these which do not limit the actions of specific dangerous persons are counterproductive and do not contribute to a just peace.

counterproductive means produces opposite effect….collective punishment of sanctions does not improved behavior/situation but makes behavior worse…increases recruitment by radicals and terrorists in general population. Sanctions on Iranian and Russian general population ,for example, have not decreased radicalization or changed politics. Sanctions on individual businesses men with clear ties to organized crime or terror funding however do limit the negaitive impact of those individuals.

@Shariff Liasa Oh, there are a lot of natural resources in Afghanistan. The problem is that having a mineral deposit is not the same as having a profitable mining operation. Opening a mine today costs hundreds of millions, often billions of dollars and it usually takes decades to make it profitable. Afghani people have neither the treasure nor the necessary peace to afford either. Now, they could hope for China to come in and do it for them and China might be foolish enough to try, but then… if you do business with China, then usually China keeps the money and you are looking at nothing.
