Flawlessly preserved 66-million-years-old dinosaur embryo found in China

Scientists have announced the discovery of an exquisitely preserved dinosaur embryo from at least 66 million years ago that was preparing to hatch from its egg just like a chicken. The fossil was discovered in Ganzhou, southern China and belonged to a toothless theropod dinosaur, or oviraptorosaur, which the researchers dubbed “Baby Yingliang.” “It is one of the best dinosaur embryos ever found in history,” University of Birmingham researcher Fion Waisum Ma, who co-authored a paper in the journal iScience, told the AFP news agency on Tuesday. Two international airports in the Chinese city of Shanghai have cancelled all flights and authorities banned outdoor activities as Typhoon In-Fa lashed eastern China with high winds and heavy rains. Deaths in flooded subway as torrential rain hits central China

At least 12 people have been killed in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, as severe flooding sweeps China’s central province of Henan. Tens of thousands are also forced to evacuate their homes after three days of heavy rainfall, which was close to the annual average rainfall. The army has warned one of the region’s stricken dams may collapse at any time, risking the lives of about seven million people. Extreme cold weather hits China ultramarathon, kills 21 runners

At least 21 people have been killed after hail, freezing rain and high winds stuck during an ultramarathon in China’s Gansu province on Saturday. A total of 172 people took part in the race, 151 have been confirmed safe after rescuers found all the missing runners on Sunday.
