Tropical Storm Elsa is on its way to the US state of Florida after its destructive path wreaking havoc in the Caribbean. Cuban officials had evacuated 180,000 people as a precaution against the possibility of heavy flooding from a storm that already battered several Caribbean islands, killing at least three people. As the seas rise around Bangladesh, countries in Africa face the challenge of spreading deserts. The Caribbean island of St Vincent has been rocked by another eruption as volcanic activity threatens crops, water and food supplies. The La Soufriere volcano began spewing ash and gas clouds last week, but Monday’s fresh eruption is thought to be the biggest yet.
